As the title states, I have returned. France was amazing and I have been posting pictures fron the trip left and right on my facebook page. utterly mindblowing. we are already looking into a return trip. in respects to musical happenings. I have just finished the two WCR tracks cory sent me over the summer. I am beyond excited to have that wrapped up. They sound pretty good too. This project is shaping up to be very Godflesh-like, which is ok by me. The next big project i think will be putting the Paper Street stuff to rest. The way things are going tho, that will probably not happen until next year. $$$ is scarce right now. In Gozer related news, we will be recording two barnd new songs for the upcoming 37564 compilation. For those of you that don’t know, 37564 a net label run by my man cory from Kindergarten Hazing Ritual. Every band on the label is his and all of them are worth your time, so head here to check it out. The Gozer full length is still awaiting samples. Mike is handling that but he is in Hawaii right now doing that honeymoon thing. Congrats to him on that as he and his wife are awesome people. That will probably be some time next year as well. There might be some massive changes coming soon. I don’t really want to say more than that because I am not sure how certain things will pan out. But trsut me. This could be huge if it DOES fall into place. That is all. -Marc

Pre-vacation update

Ok, im going to Paris for two weeks, so I am dropping a quick upate.  The Gozer shirts were a surprsing success and thanks to everyone who participated. Head over to the Gozer facebook profile to see everything. Note I said, FACEBOOK profile. When I return, I am deactivating all the myspace profiles. That place is deader than history and I do not have the time to be checking multiple profiles. Next project is the physical release of the final Paper Street CD. I’ve got something special planned for this and plan to start working on that right after I get back. The Gozer album will be dealt with after the Paper Street project. I know I said summer releases for both of these but…well…screw you. The new project has about 4 to 5 songs sketched out and we hope to start hammering those into final songs very shortly. We also lost a vocalist and still need a drumer. Mike and I are going back to handling screaming duties unless someone really wants to step up and take care of that for us. Interested drummers, get in touch. I would also like to take a moment and personally apologize to Cory for sleeping for so long on the last two WCR tracks he sent me. I plan to deal with those upon my return. I think that is all for now. Thanks for reading.

what’s up?

Just a fast update. Got the preliminary mix on the Gozer full length and its pretty damn good. I am fairly certain this is getting pushed back to the fall. Gozer is also doing a limited edition shirt printing. I am doing all the work myself, so I will try and post pics so everyone can point and laugh while I struggle to get this done. Hoping to have that finished this month. The final mix of The Paper Street Soap Co. has been approved. I think this will be in the fall as well. I am probably going to do a shirt/cd combo offer so keep an eye out for that. The physical copies of the CD will be a fairly small run but as always it will be available for digital download on the bandcamp site. Cory sent me 2 new WCR tracks. Good stuff, I just do not know when I will be able to work with them with everything going on right now. I need to make that a priority. New project is going well. Three songs are half done and we still do not have a drummer. Any interested parties should contact me and I will give you more details there. I know I have not posted anything from the archives recently. I hope to get back to doing that once Paper Street and Gozer are officially wrapped up. That’s all for now. Hows the kids?

We got updates!

Ill make this brief.

Gozer has finished recording material for its new record. I am aiming for a summer release but everyday that goes by without it being finished makes me doubt this time frame more and more. We have also uploaded some videos to youtube. Like to hear it here it go…

The final PSSC album is pretty much finished. We are looking into getting the artwork together for a physical release and once that is ready the album will be available digitally as well. I would like another summer release but something tells me this will actually be the fall.

The new band is up and running. We have two basic song sketches hammered out and we are waiting on the vocalist to get back to us to finally hammer out the structure. Still no drummer but Joe of Feardown fame has graciously agreed to help us out until we can can get a local boy to help us out.

Two WRC songs have been bassified by yers truly and one more is in the works. Cory was suffering from writer’s block for a while but it looks like he worked it out and is back on track. I have no idea what the release schedule is for this. I just know I am having fun doing it.

Lastly, I have realised that jst updating this thing when there is band stuff to talk about will pretty much guarantee this thing will rarely get used. So to fix that I have added a RANDOM GIBBERISH catagory. If you need me to explain what this category is for you are stupid and I do not want you hanging around here anyway. That about does it. Until next time, America. -Marc

eulogies and updates

well, its official. The Paper Street Soap Co. has closed its doors forever. heres the myspace blog post.

the end

well….im a liar….i said the hiatus wouldn’t be the end of us and it is. its been official since before christmas but i never could bring myself to announce it or say anything. But the time has come. The Paper Street Soap Co. has closed its doors for good. its sad but i feel it needed to be done. we had a good ten years and did much better than a local band that combines as many different styles as we do has any right to do in the cesspool that is the northeast ohio music scene. I want to take a moment and thank a few people and places that made our stay enjoyable.

The Avenue in Kent, Ohio: the first club to give us any love and it meant so much to us. we played a lot of excellent shows here and shared the stage with some incredible musicians. Sadly the club went under and changed into something crappy but we will always remember it as the only place in ohio to see a man set his face on fire.

Chris Hatton/Phat Ruckus/Babyman: Played a lot of shows with these guys and Chris always gave us a lot of support. Considering what an amazing musician this guy is that meant a lot. We were lucky enough to have chris help out with our last album and maybe one day before we all die we will be able to release that album.

Co-Conspirator: Hands down three *i guess four now but they were a 3 peice when we met* of the best musicians in this hellhole of a scene. their support and respect of this band meant so much simply because we felt if a group THAT amazing dug us then we must have been doing something right. That thought always kept me going whenever w e got a room full of blank stares and scratching heads. Thanks guys.

Charolostra/astronaut could fall: we played an amazing show with these guys at pats in the flats that no one saw but us and them and it was fantastic. both bands are gone now but it was fun while it lasted.

annabells in akron, ohio: the only other club to actually pick up what we were putting down. Thet gave us a lot of shows and a lot of freedom that we never thought we could get, our music being what it was. we also met a lot of cool people here. great place. great memories.

As for the future, as I referenced above, we still have a second album in the can and we will release it as soon as we feel comfortable with what it sounds like. its good stuff. Mike and I still do gozer together, and were probably gonna put out 2 releases this year with one being almost finished and the other being not far behind. We will also be starting a new band together with my old friend ken from feardown. Im not sure if eric will be joining us for this particular ride but it doesnt matter. regardless of blood ties, the three of us are brothers an always will be. I will keep everyone posted on the new/last album here and on my blog at The new project will be featured on there as well as gozer and anything else i do from now on. You can also get the entire paper street discography from there for free…once i get around to posting it. and lastly, i want thank anyone who talked to us after a show, added us on myspace, bought a cd, or just genuinely liked what we did. it meant so much to us and we appreciate it more than you will ever know. -marc

i think that covers it. In honor of its passing, “Cognitive Dissonance” will be the next album available for download. In other news, The Gozer/Cock Vomit split should be released any day now. The Gozer full length should be available before years end, and the second WCR song has been sent to cory for finishing touches. I will hopefully be better about posting to this thing in the future. Thanks for reading.

This machine is almost operational

Welcome to The Opposition Machine. My name is Marc Sabo and I am what some would consider a musician. I have been in various bands since 1997 and have decided to make everything I have ever recorded available here for free download. That’s right. Free. No charge. If you like what you hear you should stick around because this will also be the place where I post the new stuff I’m working on. For those of you (like me) who still like having an actual physical copy of the music you listen to, we will also be making that sort of thing available here. None of the music has been posted just yet but if you just can’t wait to hear what you’re getting yerself in to, go to the individual band pages and there should be links to each bands’ myspace page (if they have one). I hope to have everything uploaded in the next few weeks but I wouldn’t hold my breath if I were you. I am a busy man. I believe that is all for now. Thanks for checking this out.
